“Michelin Guide Nordic Countries 2021”

MICHELIN Guide’s Point Of View

The team at this historic hotel’s restaurant provide a warm welcome and its wine list is a treasure trove.
Tasting menus showcase seasonal ingredients from the beautiful island of Öland; much of it from their own delightful garden,
and the elaborate dishes boast bold flavours and original combinations.


In our star-studded dining hall, we serve what is our interpretation of our surrounding environment. We call it the “Gastronomiska Alvaret”, a reference to the local limestone landscape, to reflect the time and place in which we are located. We are responsible for a long legacy as a gastronomy hotel, with one of the most unique and idyllic herb gardens in the country. This is where we find the flavours for our dinner menus “Det lilla alvaret” and “Det stora alvaret”.

The gastronomy of the hotel is accompanied by one of the finest wine cellars in the country, with more than a thousand different references. Here, you will find the high nobility of the wine world, from major classics to young pioneers from all the corners of the world. The majority of the wines come from classical districts in Europe and have been carefully selected to match the gastronomy.

“Det gastronomiska alvaret” is an endeavour to create a complete experience centred around Öland dining.

Here, you and your friends will be treated to our signature menu “Det stora alvaret” – a tasting menu with flavours and fragrances from our herb garden, as well as from Öland and its surrounding environment.
