The winter on Öland is a completely different season compared to the mainland. Often geese and other bird species linger on Öland during the whole winter. To pick roses from your own garden for Christmas is not that unusual but it could be a snow blizzard or a ”fåk” as we call it on our island. The natural scenery is very present. To combine walks in beautiful winter weather with a good book and a glass of wine in front of the fire place when the ”fåk” is whizzing outside, is to live a little bit more.
